The program is sponsored by the Public Policy committee and features Dr. Guadalupe Corona from Southwestern Community College District. Dr. Corona is the director of the Office for Student Equity and Services.
During Dr. Corona’s seven years at Southwestern Community College, she has been awarded two Team Jaguar Awards for her team effort in supporting the Restorative Justice Program and Southwestern College Dreamer Center. The Associated Students acknowledged her outstanding support for students with the Honoring Our Own award. Last fall, she received the Equity Champion Award. This award is given to an administrator who epitomizes SWC’s Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Statement by his/her/their efforts in promoting equity and inclusion in their day-to-day work at Southwestern Community College.
The meeting will also spotlight the many activities and committees available through the branch with two-minute infomercials to encourage participation. The western-themed meeting will also share information on becoming a two-minute activist through the AAUW National website.
The branch meeting is open to the public and held in King Hall at the Foothills United Methodist Church at 4031 Avocado Blvd in La Mesa. Social time begins at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 10 a.m.
New members are always welcomed and do not need to be invited to attend a meeting.
