The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Los Angeles District is overseeing repairs to the outer 250 feet of the middle jetty at Ocean Beach/Mission Bay — work that has been visible to locals all week. A $2.289 million stimulus contract was awarded to Connolly-Pacific Co. of Long Beach to undertake the project, which should take about 90 days. The company will transport 800 stones weighing up to 24 tons each to fix damage caused by storms.
