On Thursday, Jan. 3, at 9:48 p.m., the San Diego Police Department Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a male with a knife in an apartment in the 3100 block of Cauby Street. The caller stated the male cut his throat with the knife and the knife had been taken away from the male. Upon arriving at the location, officers were directed into the apartment by a family member. Fearing for his safety, one officer fired his weapon at the male striking him at least once. Officers administered medical aid on the subject until relieved by paramedics. The subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries are life threatening at this time. San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident.
