The Pacific Beach Hospitality Group, a subcommittee of Discover Pacific Beach, hosted a community spring cleaning trash clean up April 1. More than 75 people, representing 16 businesses, met up at PB Alehouse to help clean up the business district during busy spring break. The group collected more than 80 bags of trash along Garnet Avenue, Mission Boulevard and the Boardwalk. They celebrated with an after party at PB Shore Club.
“The hospitality group is made up of our bar, restaurant and hotel businesses who don’t typically work Monday to Friday, so they wanted to plan something their employees could participate in and give back to the community.” Said Sara Berns, executive director of Discover Pacific Beach.
Prizes were awarded to Sandbar Sports Grill for weirdest item found, a well-used Rasta wig. Other weird items found were a Lil’ Tikes car, shopping carts and a plastered crab claw.
Team spirit went to the Tavern, and there was a tie between Moonshine Beach and Maverick’s Beach Club for most trash collected.
The PB Hospitality Group hopes to do a post-summer clean up in September and make these annual events.
Participants included: PB Shore Club, PB Alehouse, Waterbar, Backyard Kitchen and Tap, Dirty Birds, Sandbar Sports Bar, Tavern, Moonshine Beach, Therapy Tonics, Crushed, Brewers Fresh, Hoboken Pizza, Skrewball Whiskey, Redbull Energy Drinks and Maverick’s Beach Club.
