The San Diego Police Department arrested an alleged Peeping Tom on Valentine’s Day evening at around 8:13 p.m. in the College Area.
According to SDPD, Ilmer Cortez-Diaz was seen in the corner of the backyard of a residence on Adobe Drive for a number of minutes. The victim advised this was the third time she has spotted a peeping Tom this week at her home.
Air Borne Law Enforcement (ABLE) arrived on the scene within two minutes and found the male suspect jumping over fences of a number of backyards, trying to elude officers. ABLE continued to follow Cortez-Diaz until he was finally stopped in the canyon behind East Falls View Drive by SDSU officers.
The victim stated a similar incident occurred on Feb. 12. The victim provided officers with Ring footage from the first incident, indicating a male matching Cortez-Diaz’s description.
Cortez-Diaz was hiding in a portion of the backyard, which provided concealment and a vantage point in the backyard to peer through the bedroom window and sliding glass door of the victim’s home.
Cortez-Diaz was taken into custody on two counts of peeping, and obstructing/resisting a peace officer.
