The 13th annual free Point Loma Summer Concert Series hosts the last of five concerts, featuring The Bayou Brothers, which describes itself as “San Diego’s favorite Zydeco band” with special guest Sue Palmer. Concertgoers can bring their own seating and/or blankets and can order dinner from the night’s sponsor, Stump’s Family Marketplace. Fourth annual Free to Breath San Diego 5K Run/Walk at Liberty Station to benefit the National Lung Cancer Partnership, a nonprofit organization dedicated to research necessary for making the dramatic breakthroughs in early detection and treatment that can save lives. Check-in is 7:15 a.m., the opening rally is at 8:10 a.m. and 5K runners start at 8:30 a.m. 5K walkers begin at 9 a.m. The event takes place at NTC Park on Cushing Street. The Ocean Beach Historical Society will host a free presentation titled “San Diego’s Waterfront Through the Eyes of a Child” by Jim Bregante. The Point Loma/Hervey Branch Library chess club meets in an informal format at 2 p.m. on the lower level of the library at the tables near the librarian’s desk. There are no memberships or dues.
