In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the staff at San Diego Humane Society and Animal Friends of the Valleys (Wildomar) were surprised with a grant investment in the amount of $250,000 (total grant investments: $500,000) from the Petco Foundation, providing crucial funding to help local pets in need. These two local surprise celebrations are part of the more than $10 million in grant investments that the Petco Foundation will be committing to animal welfare organizations across the country as part of their annual investment process to find and invest in the most effective lifesaving animal welfare organizations nationwide. The shelter pets and the people who save them at these organizations will also receive thousands of valentine messages of gratitude for their lifesaving work from pet adopters both locally and across the nation. At select animal shelter locations, the Petco Foundation, in partnership with BOBS from Skechers and MUTTS, delivered Valentine’s celebration of thanks and love to the organization’s staff and volunteers, along with a special gift of BOBS from Skechers shoes for hardworking staff. The big surprise will be the unveiling of the grant investment check for significant funding to help them save more pets in the future. Animal Friends of the Valleys is dedicated to promoting humane care of animals through education and a humane, proactive animal services program. The mission of the San Diego Humane Society is to create a more humane world by inspiring compassion, providing hope and advancing the welfare of animals and people.
