Are you ready for a festival? Kyle Anderson has been designing comfortable clothing for the Ethereal Soul for three years now. She named her business Radiant Robes, meaning that the clothing helps you express yourself so your inner radiance shines outward. The customers she targets are people who go to art shows and music festivals such as Lightning in a Bottle and High Sierra Music Festival. Currently, she is revving up for the beginning of the festival season, which begins in March.
Anderson graduated with a degree in journalism/film and started to do freelance work with writing and documentaries. Then she decided that she loved fashion and went back to school and received a degree in fashion merchandising from San Diego Mesa College. After graduating she took sewing lessons and then went to her first music festival: Lightning in a Bottle. She loves kimonos and didn’t see any there that she liked. This is where the idea was born to create kimonos.
One of Anderson’s friends was having a retreat in Bali called “Uncover and Activate.” She decided to travel to Bali for this planned retreat. There she would do something spiritual for herself, write a business plan, and buy fabrics for the business. Back in San Diego, she started making kimonos and hooded robes.
Last year, Radiant Robes participated in San Diego Fashion Week and showed off her collection of 10 designs to an awesome crowd. The clothing is made from burnt velvet, chiffon, and breathable fabrics that let you feel like you are barely wearing anything. Anderson embellishes the clothing with fringe and patches to make them funky and unique. Many of the clothes are unisex and they fit multiple sizes. She is always adding new styles to the collection such as flair pants, bomber jackets, joggers, and matching sets. The main thing is that everything is super comfortable. Anderson’s tagline is Feel Good Flow Good.
Currently, you can find Radiant Robes at Connect San Diego. She rents out a room at this Art Collective in Ocean Beach on Newport Avenue. Additional places are Hunter and Gather in North Park and Tippy Tailor in Austin, Texas. You can find her on her website RadiantRobes.com. She also sells wholesale in addition to setting up booths at festivals or on Instagram @radiantrobes.
I asked Anderson if she had any imparting words. She said, “Have a dream and go for it. The universe favors the brave!”
