Local professional boxer Adrian Vargas will be a special guest at the upcoming Casa de Oro Bible Church Community Outreach event which will feature a car show and live music for those attending.
The address for those interested in attending the event on Oct. 19 at Casa de Oro Bible Church is 10195 Madrid Way in Spring Valley. The event runs from noon to 4 p.m.
Vargas competes in the welterweight class and is currently undefeated in his first 15 fights with 14 wins and one draw which includes nine knockouts.
“I pray that the holy spirit moves throughout all the speakers, Lord willing, and everyone enjoys the good food, Christian music and all the fellowships because it’s going to be a great environment with wonderful people,” Vargas stated.
Besides the accolades that he’s received as a boxer, Vargas has also served for over a year as the vice president of Restoring San Diego which is a Christ-centered outreach that focuses and targets the street population. Its mission is to reach people who have been affected by choices that have resulted in homelessness, a life of drug addiction, gangs, prostitution, and crime while prioritizing the men, women, and youth who have been victims of the struggles within urban communities by reaching them with the love of Jesus Christ.
The event where Vargas will be present and speaking is open to the public and also has a goal of empowering those present by providing information on housing, transitional living, addiction services, career and educational resources, spiritual counseling, discipleship and youth outreach.
“The message is to always fight the good fight of faith and be ready in season and out of season to preach the word of God,” he added.
Vargas trains at the House of Boxing Training Center in Paradise Hills.
