The City of Santee’s Town Center Community Park East reopened earlier this month after weeks of construction for the synthetic turf field replacement project.
The turf fields were replaced thanks to the Neighborhood Reinvestment Program grant, totaling $100,000, from San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson’s office. The grant, community groups and the City of Santee funded a total of $1,003,230 to go towards the turf installation project.
“Sports user groups are thrilled to see the final product. I want to thank City staff for rising above the construction obstacles while still providing the community with special events and services during the park closure,” says Nicolas Chavez, Community Services Director.
The City of Santee hosted a ribbon cutting for the Town Center Community Park East synthetic turf fields on Oct. 10.
Members of the public, Supervisor Anderson, and staff were invited to come celebrate the brand-new turf and enjoy light refreshments.
The City said it is proud of this revitalization of the fields and enhancement of access to sports activities, event space and recreation for years to come.
