Pickleball enthusiasts, from beginners to advanced, are invited to “Paddle with a Purpose” Saturday, June 29, 5 to 8 p.m. at The HUB Pickleball Club (9545 Campo Road) in Spring Valley. Tickets to the event are $75 per person.
The fundraising event is hosted by Resounding Joy, a San Diego-based nonprofit, uniting the community through sport to further the cause of healing through music therapy.
From children facing health challenges, to veterans transitioning to civilian life, to seniors with memory issues – Resounding Joy’s music therapy programs make a difference. All funds raised will directly support the organization’s diverse programs, which have been instrumental in improving lives across various groups in the San Diego community since 2004.
“As a nonprofit dedicated to enriching lives through music, Resounding Joy offers therapy services at little to no cost to those in need. This fundraiser is vital to help us continue to provide transformative experiences to those who would otherwise be unable to afford them,” said Kerri Fox, Resounding Joy’s executive director and CEO.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a drum circle hosted by Resounding Joy’s music therapists, setting the tone and underscoring the transformative power of music therapy. A coach-led pickleball clinic will follow, welcoming all players to learn or sharpen their skills. The fun continues with a friendly tournament, challenging participants to put their new skills to the test. Alongside the sporting fun, attendees can savor a selection of refreshments – including beer, wine and other beverages – and enjoy a catered dinner and dessert, perfectly rounding out the day of camaraderie and community support.
“Pickleball, the fastest growing sport worldwide, was the perfect choice to unite the community for a fun and meaningful fundraiser,” Fox added. “With 26 outdoor courts surrounded by vibrant murals depicting San Diego scenes, The HUB Pickleball Club provides an ideal backdrop for our event.”
