San Carlos Little League (SCLL) is holding a baseball equipment drive this weekend, Sept. 9 and 10, to benefit the West Maui Little League, who had many families directly affected by the Lahaina fires.
“Many of WMLL’s families lost everything, including baseball gear,” said SCLL Board Member Kristin Ludwick. “We are hoping to rally the community to raise money and collect new and lightly used equipment for our little league brothers and sisters in Maui. We want to help get those kids back to playing baseball and having fun.”
The president of the West Maui Little League said collections will continue for at least another month or two. She said the following items are needed the most:

New underwear and athletic cups (ages 8 to 13)

Cleats

Baseballs
-
Gloves
-
Batting gloves
-
Little League approved bats
-
Baseball bags or duffel bags

Baseball pants
-
Baseball belts
-
Baseball socks
“Little League is one of the timeless beautiful things about baseball, so when you see a fellow little league struggling you lend them a helping hand,” said SCLL Board President Sheila Gigante. “We know first first-hand how much goes into running a league without a natural disaster so this is the least we can do to help in getting this league up and running again. We just hope the community can come through and help us accelerate that process as much as possible.”
