The San Diego Parks Foundation, in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department, invites everyone to I Love My Park Day — a free family festival happening this Saturday, May 17, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center located at 6401 Skyline Drive.
This community-powered celebration is more than just bounce houses and food trucks (though those will be there, too!) — it’s the official kickoff to a summer packed with no-cost/low-cost park programming, and the launch of the eight-week Parks After Dark series, running June 14 through Aug. 9 at five neighborhood parks across San Diego.
Highlights of the I Love My Park Day celebration will include:
-
Food vendors (kids under 18 eat free)
-
Petting zoo
-
Arts & crafts
-
Youth golf and sport experiences
-
Jumpers for kids
-

I Love My Park Day celebrates what parks truly mean to a community—joy, connection, safety, and opportunity. With support from The City of San Diego, Price Charities, Prebys Foundation and a wide network of partners, the San Diego Parks Foundation is building a summer where every family is welcome, every child is fed, and every park becomes a place for possibility.
