Coming off a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Utah Royals at Snapdragon Stadium on March 22, the San Diego Wave will travel to Inter&Co Stadium to play the reigning NWSL champion Orlando Pride on Saturday.
The Wave is in fourth place while Orlando is the top seed, having vanquished its first two opponents by a combined 8-0 scoreline. The Wave and Pride faced each other twice last season, with the Pride coming out on top with the first meeting in a 1-0 victory and the second finishing in a 1-1 draw at Snapdragon Stadium. Orlando had a goal differential of plus-26 during the 2024 regular season, scoring a league-leading 46 goals led by its outstanding forward Barbra Banda, who ended in second-place in goals with 17, just behind Kansas City Current striker Temwa Chawinga.
San Diego is led in scoring by forward Gia Corley, who has one goal in the first two matches, including the game-winner over the Utah Royals.
Orlando lost to the Washington Spirit in penalty kicks at the NWSL Challenge Cup final on March 7, a trophy that the San Diego Wave won thanks to a 1-0 victory over Gotham FC on a goal by forward Alex Morgan to kick off 2024.
San Diego will play its next home game on April 12 against the Kansas City Current and will play Orlando again on Sept. 26 at Snapdragon Stadium.
