San Diego-based stuffed-animal company, Shore Buddies, finished their Kickstarter campaign successfully on Sunday, Dec. 16 and received full funding. The company, which makes stuffed animals from recycled plastic bottles, even exceeded their funding goal of $10,000 and raised a total of $10,544 from 132 individual supporters within 16 days.
The Kickstarter campaign featured Shore Buddies’ first children’s book “Shore Buddies and the Plastic Ocean.” The book tells the story of five friends (the Shore Buddies) joined together in one mission to fight plastic pollution in the ocean. Find out what they discover and what you can do to help save marine life and keep plastics out of the oceans. Shore Buddies is encouraging educators to use the book to teach kids about plastic pollution, recycling and ocean conservation. One of the popular packages of the Kickstarter campaign was the “educator package,” which included two copies of “Shore Buddies And the Plastic Ocean” and three of the stuffed animals made from recycled plastic bottles.
All stuffed animals, as well as the book, will be available for purchase at shore-buddies.com on Dec. 18. For wholesale inquires, please contact [email protected].
Shore Buddies is holding an open to public “Kickstarter funded party” at Wheat and Water, 5737 La Jolla Blvd., on Monday, Dec. 17, from 8 to 10 p.m. to showcase the newly released book and the five stuffed animals.
