Meat lovers, prepare to unite for the 19th annual Sweet Onion and BBQ Festivals at Siesel’s Meats near Mission Bay. The festivals will take place every Saturday beginning April 28 through May 19. Food samplings, culinary demonstrations and summer grilling ideas will bring hundreds of food fanatics together for a finger lickin’ good time. Each festival will represent a different style of barbecue, beginning with Southern-style fare on April 28. This event will feature classics like pulled pork and beef brisket. The following week, on May 5, Siesel’s will pay tribute to Cinco de Mayo with Mexican favorites like carne asada and a burrito bar. To celebrate the burger on May 12, guests will choose from a variety of proteins to place between the bun — Kobe beef, venison or bacon. The festivals will conclude May 19 with a traditional Hawaiian luau featuring a Kalua pig, tri-tip and Maui ribs. All festivals will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in tents outside the store, located at 4131 Ashton St. Partnering shop Iowa Meat Farms will also host the festivals at its Mission Gorge Road location.
