La Jolla JV cager move toward .500
The La Jolla High junior varsity girls basketball team went 1-1 last week to move their season mark to 6-7 overall and 2-3 in Western League play.
The Lady Vikings topped Mission Bay 35-10. Robin Mackelburg recorded her second straight double-double as she collected 12 points and 11 rebounds.
La Jolla dropped its other contest of the week, a 42-18 defeat to Lincoln. Anna Parma had eight points for La Jolla and Mackelburg had seven points and 13 rebounds in the losing effort.
“We had a good week,” La Jolla High head coach Gary Frank noted. “The team played a good all-around game against Mission Bay. Against Lincoln, we had a little bit of trouble against their pressure defense, but I’m confident we can make some adjustments and beat them the next time.”
