On Friday, Jan. 31, Sunset View Elementary held its annual Jogathon, the school’s largest yearly student fundraiser. Kindergarten to fourth-grade students take turns running around the school track, dressed in the colors of their particular classroom.
School staff, parents, grandparents, family and friends, and a rap singer, all stood around the track, loudly cheering on the students.
The students collect pledges, or one-time donations, from their family and friends for the individual laps that they run. A large part of this successful event also comes from corporate sponsorship. Each sponsor has its name and logo printed on the back of the Jogathon T-shirt.
The money raised by the students is used directly to help fund various Sunset View programs, such as the KidsFirst annual operating budget.
