“SPRINGFEST” TO PLAY AT UCSD, BALBOA PARK, AND EAST VILLAGE
Springfest is an annual festival of experimental music presented by the graduate students from the UC San Diego Department of Music.
From April 7 to 14, artists from the music composition, performance, computer music, and integrative studies programs will present diverse and adventurous programming in collaboration with artists from throughout the region. Events will take place on the UC San Diego campus, at Balboa Park and in San Diego’s East Village.
Springfest includes 20 events over the course of seven days. The festival will begin with BlueRail, a relay performance event staged throughout the Conrad Prebys Music Center, featuring over 40 improvisational musicians, dancers and visual artists, including international artists from Baja California.
The festival features two to three performances per day, ranging from solo recitals to Hermetic Art Party, a four-day “art party and hide-away,” to a concert of several of Stockhausen’s rarely performed spatial works and XX, a celebration of music by women.
On Sunday, April 14th, Springfest will close with a finale in the East Village in downtown San Diego hosted by Space4Art and Sandbox Venue. UC San Diego musicians, artists, and dancers will join forces with the San Diego-based creative community to present an evening of performance, exploration, socialization and fun.
All events are free and open to the public. For the full schedule of events, visit springfestmusic.org.
