Old Town’s Bazaar del Mundo Shops (4133 Taylor Street) will showcase genuine folk art, handwoven textiles, embroidered clothing, stunning jewelry, and meticulously crafted pottery by Latin American artists at its annual Latin American Festival on Aug. 2-4.
New music festival at Waterfront Park
Outriders West is celebrating this summer with the debut of their inaugural music festival, Endless Sunsets on Aug. 3. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the all ages event. The one-day event at Waterfront Park will offer attendees a quintessentially laid-back Southern California experience with sensational ocean views and showcases an eclectic lineup featuring psychedelic, indie, and country sounds.
“MEG4N: The Unauthorized Musical Parody”
Head to Diversionary Theatre in University Heights on August 6 and 7 for performances at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. each night for a comedic horror musical parody of “MEG4N” starring RuPaul’s Drag Race alum The Rosé.
Disaster Relief Trials and Resilience Fair
On Aug. 10 from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. at the North Park Mini Park, bike enthusiasts will gather to demonstrate the effectiveness of cargo bikes in responding to a disaster. Seminars on emergency preparedness will be held at the park alongside live music, food vendors from Vegan Food Pop-Up, bike demos and an all ages bike carnival. Meanwhile, competitors will take part in a 14-mile course across Uptown San Diego hauling bottled water, canned food, toilet paper, medical supplies, firewood, blankets and other supplies.
Olympic pub crawl in North Park
Home of Guiding Hands, a nonprofit organization that provides quality support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is hosting an Olympics-themed pub crawl in North Park on Aug. 10. Starting at North Park Beer Company, participants will follow the torch bearers to The Original 40 Brewing Company and Mike Hess Brewing for more sips and bites. Tickets start at $65. CityFest celebrates 40 years
San Diego’s ultimate summer art and music festival takes over 5th Avenue at University Ave., under the Hillcrest Sign from noon until 11 p.m. on Sunday, August 11th, 2024 during Hillcrest CityFest. It is one of San Diego’s longest running art and music festivals, stretching over half a mile.
Comedy Night at the Guggenheim
Join Park & Market (1100 Market St.) for an evening filled with laughter at this clean comedy event with a red carpet at 7 p.m. and show at 8 p.m. Emmy-nominated actor Mark Christopher Lawrence is hosting with Scott Wood headlining with additional performances from Kurt Swann and Lisa Gilbert. Tickets cost $45.
Uptown Planners voting
While online voting to fill Uptown’s new community planning group opens on Aug. 8, in person voting will be held on Aug. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bard Hall at 4190 Front Street. The board will be announced and seated at 8:30 p.m.
Prose & Poetry at the Park
Michael Klam and Karla Cordova are hosting a prose and poetry reading in Balboa Park under the trees of the Cypress Grove area near 6th and Quince for the 20th anniversary of this free community event on Aug. 25 from 2-4 p.m.
“Rachmaninoff and the Tsar”
HFP LIVE and San Diego Theatres present pianist/actor/playwright/producer Hershey Felder, with his first play in five years “Rachmaninoff and the Tsar,” at Balboa Theatre, Aug. 27-31.
