Leana Hosken believes in helping people live as healthily as possible, and she’s found that niche in an unexpected way. After ten years of working in marketing and public relations, Hosken ended her career to teach yoga and study nutrition. Three years ago, she visited an herb farm where they made all-natural, botanical skin care products, and her pursuit of health widened.
Hosken began concocting plant-based lotions and cleansers in her kitchen and soon found that friends were demanding her products. She enlisted a chemist and manufacturer who were willing to work with all-natural ingredients and launched LeiAna Pure Skin Care in 2005.
Hosken worked for six months to create formulas that would be suitable for a wide variety of skin types, and that would be effective, gentle and healing.
“I had no intention in starting a skin care line,” she said. “It was a natural progression, just following my passion and following what I’m interested in “¦in helping people to become as healthy as they can be in all ways.”
Natural skin products and yoga go hand in hand, according to Hosken, who believes that the nonsynthetic, botanical products nurture and heal the skin as yoga strengthens the body. Hosken teaches chair yoga to senior citizens at the Chateau La Jolla Inn. Hosken was inspired to work with the elderly after she saw how yoga had benefited her grandmother, who also lives in a senior residence.
Hosken only sells her products online. For more information about LeiAna Pure Skin Care, call (858) 384-3343 or visit www.pureleiana.com.
