
Join us as we celebrate Norouz, the Persian New Year, on Monday, March 17, from 6 to 7 p.m.
We are excited to bring this traditional celebration back to our community. Our staff member, Ms. Shadi, will be speaking about the significance of this holiday and the cultural traditions that celebrate the beginning of Spring. Persian music will be provided by Dornob and we will be serving delicious Persian treats.
Union-Tribune Language Columnist, Richard Lederer, will present A Feast of Words on Friday, March 21, at 2 p.m. This program from San Diego Oasis will serve up a banquet of goodies from a brief history of the English language to bloopers and puns. Join us for a fun afternoon of language and learning.

The book Empire Builder will be discussed by author, Sandra Bonura, on Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m.
This book tells the story of John D. Spreckels and how he transformed the village of San Diego into a thriving city by contributing to numerous educational, charitable, and cultural institutions. Bonura provides a behind-the-scenes look at how the Spreckels family shaped San Diego.
Quilter, Colleen Swesey, will be displaying her quilts in the Winer Family Community Room from up to March 29. She made a quilt for her husband as a gift 50 years ago and has been quilting ever since. She prefers to make her quilts from wool and enjoys adding embroidery and fine details. Come meet her at her artistreception on Saturday, March 15, at 12 p.m.
Do Your Homework @ the Library provides free assistance with homework assignments. Our Homework Center is open to all K-8 students and Homework Coaches are available to guide and support student learning. The center is open on Monday to Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.
The San Carlos Friends of the Library Used Book Sale is held on the first Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Come buy books and support the Friends of the Library. Ask for a membership envelope from the book sale cashiers to join or donate to the San Carlos Friends of the Library. We are in need of your gently used book donations which are accepted any time during library open hours.
