A special tribute to Ocean Beach burger legend Mike “Bossman” Hardin will take place 11:11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Petco Park’s Park in the Park, 100 Park Blvd. Hodad’s family and friends will pay tribute to the “Unofficial Mayor of Ocean Beach,” Burgermeister and Bossman Hardin.
The celebration of life, coordinated by Hodad’s general manager Jeremy Diem, and Mike’s son, and Hodad’s third generation restauranteur, Shane Hardin, is free and open to everyone who ever knew Mike or knew his burgers. The celebration will include presentations by Mike’s family and friends, a special video tribute and musical performances.
Hardin lived in San Diego since 1960, until his untimely passing last month. His parents opened the iconic Hodad’s in Ocean Beach that same year, which Mike took over in the 1980s and then expanded to a second venue downtown and a third in Petco Park. Mike’s bigger than life personality and charm landed Hodad’s on Guy Fieri’s “Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives” several years ago, which helped put the burger joint and Ocean Beach on the national map.
