The City of La Mesa announced the hiring of its first community cleanup coordinator, a brand-new position dedicated to keeping La Mesa beautiful.
The community cleanup coordinator started on Monday, March 18, and will focus on maintaining the cleanliness of public areas, removing trash, graffiti, debris, and responding to community cleanup requests.
“We’re committed to making La Mesa a cleaner, more welcoming place for residents and visitors,” said Mayor Mark Arapostathis. “By creating this position, we are investing in a proactive approach to keeping our streets and public spaces well-maintained.”
The community cleanup coordinator will regularly patrol public spaces, coordinate with service providers for cleanup events, and collaborate with regional agencies to ensure public areas remain well-maintained.
The position also includes tracking cleanup efforts through the City’s service request platforms and engaging with the community on how to report waste violations and participate in beautification initiatives.
Residents can report cleanup concerns or request services through See-Click-Fix and can expect to see the coordinator out in the community working to keep La Mesa looking its best.
