
Have you ever wondered how to get a job with the City of San Diego? Are you aware of the different types of jobs available?
The City of San Diego Personnel Department will be hosting a presentation called Exploring Career Paths on Wednesday, April 16, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the San Carlos Branch Library. City staff will instruct patrons on how to seek employment with the City of San Diego and introduce the large variety of jobs available around the city. Learn how to join the City of San Diego team.
Chris Burns, Many-Strings, will be hosting a music concert called San Diego History Through Music on Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m.
This San Diego Oasis program will feature the music of the San Diego area from the 1400’s to today. Native Americans, the Spanish and English explorers, the missions, Mexican ranchers, Gold Rush settlers, and the Chinese and Japanese immigrants all brought their own music to the region. Come enjoy the variety of music that shaped the history of San Diego.
Author, Wanjiru Warama, will be returning to the library on Friday, April 25, at 2 p.m. to discuss two new books in her series The Colonized.

Warama grew up in a world devoid of books in rural Kenya under British rule and now dedicates her time to writing biographical and historical books that enlighten, entertain, and inspire readers. Join us to learn about her most recent books, The British vs. Kenya’s Mau Mau and The Colonial Farm.
Katherine “Katie” Kennedy will be displaying her oil paintings in the Winer Family Community Room from April 2 to May 5. Kennedy considers herself a “community-taught” artist who enjoys learning from the community of artists around her. She uses a high-chroma palette to capture objects and scenes from everyday life. Come meet her at her Artist Reception on Saturday, April 19, at noon.
Do Your Homework @ the Library provides free assistance with homework assignments. Our Homework Center is open to all K-8 students and Homework Coaches are available to guide and support student learning. The center is open on Monday to Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.
The San Carlos Friends of the Library Used Book Sale is held on the first Saturday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come buy books and support the Friends of the Library. Ask for a membership envelope from the book sale cashiers to join or donate to the San Carlos Friends of the Library.
