THURSDAY, June 21 The Ocean Beach Historical Society (OBHS) and the California Surf Museum (CSM) present “OB’s Notable Women Surfers,” a free presentation at 7 p.m. The OBHS and the CSM will team for an entertaining overview of some of Ocean Beach’s notable women surfers. Presenters include Jane Schmauss, a historian at the CSM; and local artist/surfer/historian Cher Pendarvis. The duo will celebrate the growth of women’s surfing in the area, beginning with Faye Baird Fraser, considered to be San Diego’s first boardwoman, on to the Vahine Kai Surf Club, and other stand-out individuals. Boards, bathing suits and photos will round out the evening’s presentation. SUNDAY, June 24 • All Souls’ Episcopal Church will host its last concert of the season with “Pushkin’s Wreath.” The choral concerto by Russian composer Georgy Sviridov is based on the poetry of Aleksander Pushkin.
